Home security for your local communities in the UK

Home Security – Bonfire Night is a very tempting night for opportunist burglars.  These dark evenings, with bangs from fireworks exploding in the distance, assist burglars breaking in to houses.

Home security tips for your premises:

Make sure your fit your outbuildings, sheds, etc. with a strong padlock and/or alarm system.  HG Security Company UK sell a strong combination padlock online.  Click here to have a look.

Do not leave ladders lying around – lock them away into your shed or garage.  Ladders make easy access for burglars to gain access to upper floors.  Many people leave an upstairs window open, so best advice is to close all windows for added home security.

A high percentage of burglars enter properties through a door.  Make sure you lock all doors and windows for best safety and security of your home.

Fit an alarm and/or CCTV system.  Many properties in the UK have alarms fitted, but choose not to use them!

If you don’t want to go to the expense of fitting a fully operational alarm, you could purchase a dummy alarm box.  They appear to be an active alarm from the ground as they have a flashing light.  You can purchase one from DIY stores throughout the UK.  Argos sell the miGuard Dummy/Replica Siren for £19.99.

Make it look like someone’s at home:

Make your house look as if somebody is at home.  Close the curtains, leave a few lights on.  It’s also a good idea to leave a radio or television on.

You should change your home security alarm code regularly.

Never leave spare keys hidden outside your house, in a wellington boot, under the doormat, etc.  Do not leave any keys inside your home visible from the outside.  Experienced thieves know all the hiding places!

Ask a friend or neighbour to keep an eye on your home whilst you’re out.

Fit security lighting to the front and rear of your property.  HG Security & Property Protection Limited recommend the sensor type that are activated by movement.

REMEMBER!  REMEMBER!  Your household insurance could be invalid if your home is left unsecure.
